Como a procura de produtos manufacturados aumentou continuamente, consumindo cada vez mais recursos naturais, e os espa\u00e7os constru\u00eddos se expandiram em detrimento dos ocupados pelas florestas, os n\u00edveis de poluentes na atmosfera atingiram, em apenas 200 anos, n\u00edveis mais elevados do que em toda a evolu\u00e7\u00e3o humana anterior.<\/em><\/p><p><em>As altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas afectam todas as regi\u00f5es do mundo. Representam uma amea\u00e7a muito s\u00e9ria e as suas consequ\u00eancias afectam muitos aspectos da nossa vida. As calotas polares est\u00e3o a derreter e o n\u00edvel do mar est\u00e1 a subir. Em algumas regi\u00f5es, as condi\u00e7\u00f5es meteorol\u00f3gicas e a precipita\u00e7\u00e3o extremas est\u00e3o a tornar-se mais frequentes, enquanto outras registam ondas de calor e secas extremas.
